FAQ's

Why join our library?

We are the only resource hire library in Canterbury, providing specialised resources for children and adults with a variety of learning challenges.

Where are we situated?

109 Huxley Street, Sydenham, Christchurch

When are you open?

Tuesday 10.00am - 4.30pm

Thursday 10.00am - 4.30pm

Saturday 10.00am - 1.00pm

How much to join this fantastic service?

Compared to other ‘Toy Libraries' in Canterbury our competitive annual membership is value for money, and unlike other libraries we do not ask for ‘Duty Shifts’ or place you on a cleaning roster, we have an amazing team of volunteers to take care of this vital service for us.

Our annual membership for:

General Families and Schools/Organisations $95.00

Families with Challenges $60.00

What are the costs to hire resources?

All our resources can be hired for up to 4 weeks:

Families can hire up to 8 resources.

Organisation/Schools can hire up to 12 resources.

Each resource has a small hire charge, this ranges from $2.00 - $15.00.

*Please note - Organisations and Schools can only have 2 users/ per account, this keeps it clear and concise on hires for us collectively.

Can I reserve resources?

You certainly can, just let one of our friendly team know and we can reserve the item, we will then contact you when it is available.

Reserves will be placed on hold for 7 days and if they are not collected within the time frame, they will be put back into circulation.

We are enjoying our resources but there is a piece missing! What should I do?

Please let us know as soon as possible if there is a piece missing or a damaged piece or part, we can then record this, so you are not fined upon return.

If you have however lost or damaged a piece from a resource you will be charged a small fine to replace this, if we are unable to replace it from our extensive range of replacement pieces then you will be charged the full replacement cost of the resource as outlined in your Membership Agreement.

My resources are due back, but we can’t make it in today, what should I do?

Give our friendly team a call or send an email to our coordinator to let us know. If we know when they are being returned it is all ka pai!

My resources are overdue, what happens now?

As per your Membership Agreement, if your resources are overdue you will be required to pay all overdue charges as without the resource back in the Library, we are losing revenue from it

I would love to be involved with volunteering at the Library, who do I contact?

Head to our Volunteer page or alternatively email our Coordinator direct on admin@learningneedslibrary.co.nz

Please note* you are unable to bring children with you while volunteering*
